Bachelor of Behavioural Science with Honours, completed at La Trobe University.  Graduate Diploma of Young People’s Mental Health, completed at the University of Melbourne. 


Certificate in Trauma Counselling and Psychotherapy, completed at Cairnmillar.  Diploma of Alcohol and other Drug Work, completed at GATE.  Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, completed at Box Hill TAFE, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Level 1, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Level 2 Training.

Team Leader, Counselling Intake, Counselling Program, Western Region Health Centre (managing integration of intake services, including new paperwork, integration of four services, four dedicated staff and fifteen rotating staff, client assessment and crisis management and management of local intake process after Black Saturday).  Responsible for initial debriefing and support to related victims (initial grief support following traumatic passing of a family member due to crime/motor vehicle accident).

Family Violence Specialist Counsellor (Psychologist), Western Region Health Centre. Specialising in counselling and associated support services for women and children affected by family violence.

Counsellor and Mental Health Promotion Officer, Northern Arrest (Police Intervention) Referral Team (NART), Plenty Valley Community Health Service. Provided direct counselling, mental health support, police training, police networking, direct psychological support to police for people who were affected by crime as victims, mental health affected individuals or who may have engaged in a crime.

Clinical Project Co-ordinator, Hospital Demand Management Project, Eastern Health – Maroondah Hospital Emergency Department.  Set up and managed clinical treatment program for emergency department staff and CATT to assist in the management of clients presenting with alcohol and other drug treatment problems.

Alcohol and other Drug Treatment Counsellor, Eastern Health Alcohol and Drug Treatment Services (now Turning Point).  Provided general counselling and withdrawal counselling.  Also responsible for conducting a number of projects to assist in supporting GPs, police and local government with training and managing various issues across the region.  One of the projects that Josephine initially supported around local alcohol use is now running across the state in a number of local government areas and is currently operating within the local area.

Mental Health Clinician, MIND Australia, providing group work and psychosocial rehabilitation support to clients experiencing significant psychiatric disability.
