Medicare-Subsidised Psychology Sessions
Some clients may be eligible to receive Medicare-subsidised psychology sessions through a Mental Health Care Plan arranged by their GP.
This option allows eligible clients to access psychological support with a partial rebate from Medicare, while still receiving the same professional standard of care.
What Is a Mental Health Care Plan?
A Mental Health Care Plan is a treatment plan prepared by a GP to support individuals experiencing mental health concerns.
If eligible, Medicare currently provides rebates for up to 10 individual psychology sessions per calendar year. These sessions must be reviewed part-way through the year by your GP.
Do I Need a Referral?
Yes. To access Medicare rebates, you will need:
• A Mental Health Care Plan from your GP
• A GP referral addressed to the psychologist or clinic
Without these, sessions are still available privately (see our Private Clients page).
What Can Medicare-Subsidised Sessions Help With?
Clients commonly use Medicare-funded sessions to address:
• Anxiety and stress
• Depression and low mood
• Trauma-related symptoms
• Adjustment difficulties
• Emotional regulation and coping strategies
Treatment is evidence-based and tailored to your individual needs.
Our Team and Medicare Sessions
Our team includes fully registered psychologists and provisional psychologists who are approved to provide services under Medicare.
Clients are matched with the most appropriate practitioner based on their needs, preferences, and availability.
All Medicare-subsidised sessions are delivered in line with professional, ethical, and clinical standards.
Fees and Rebates
Medicare provides a partial rebate, not full coverage of the session fee.
• You pay the session fee at the time of your appointment
• Medicare rebates are processed after the session
• The rebate amount depends on the practitioner type
Our team can explain fees and rebates clearly before your first appointment.
