Nicholas Cooper
Background
Nicholas (Nick) is a provisional psychologist in Melbourne currently completing the 5+1 registration pathway toward general psychologist registration. His tertiary education across both regional and metropolitan universities has given him insight into the diverse mental health challenges faced by communities in different settings.
Nick is motivated to help individuals build autonomy, independence, and the skills needed to achieve their personal goals. He takes a collaborative, capacity-building approach to therapy, supporting clients to strengthen coping strategies and increase self-understanding. He also recognises that life challenges can re-emerge and encourages clients to return to therapy whenever additional support is needed.
Experience
Nick has broad experience working with varied demographics and at-risk populations. Before becoming a psychologist, he worked in youth support services, homelessness programs, and alcohol and other drug recovery settings. Since entering professional psychology practice, he has gained experience in private practice, rehabilitation services, paediatric clinics, and athletic performance environments.
